Wired News Columnist Takes a Jab

At some point earlier today I stumbled upon this article written by Wired News' copy chief Tony Long. Read it now and form your own opinion before I taint you.
My reaction was that his distinction between the artistic qualities of digital and film photography was quite arbitrary. Though, wasn't nearly as offended by the photography bit as I was by his idea that digital painting was not an art. Surely he has never heard of Linda Bergkvist or Craig Mullins?
One could just as easily argue that photography is not an art in the first place (after all, there is usually less creative intervention in photography than in painting for instance). But this is nonsense; arguing about art and æsthetics will not get us anywhere.
