Dag Crop

...and another shot from the beach since I haven't taken any photos since.

As my almost excessive free time is entering a cessation I am loath to think how severely my time for photography and other leisurely activities will be cut short. I have to keep telling myself that the challenges I face are good for me and will bear fruit in due time. I keep telling myself...

Bicycle Helmet

Here are a couple of less traditional photos from the past week that have been growing on me.

Descending Light

I made another trip down to glass beach this morning. I was a bit disappointed not to capture anything particularly special, but I don't think it was a total failure.

Starting tomorrow my habitual idleness is coming to an end as the spring semester of college begins. This semester I will be taking intermediate drawing and calculus. It's only two classes, but it's enough to keep me busy.

It also looks like I will be going to Lake Taho this weekend. It is not in my usual character to take off during the college semester, but I will not get this opportunity again and I can always haul my textbook and some drawing paper along. Do expect some photos as I will probably be busy taking photos while everyone else is out snowboarding (I don't want to risk re-injuring my shoulder until it has fully recovered).

Low Tide

I drove out to glass beach yesterday just after sunset. The tide was the lowest I can recall seeing it--though I could hardly see anything, so I dared not walk very far out on the rocks.

Gulls

Sometimes I post an image on here thinking it's great at the time, but upon viewing it the next day or the next week I cringe at the sight of it. The last shot of the brewery is a good example of this.

Mushroom

I photographed this mushroom about two minutes before the little accident I had on my mountain bike.

Note: my shoulder will be fine, though my doctor tells me the "disfigurement" will be permanent. I guess I will have to separate the other shoulder eventually to make it match. While I wait for my shoulder to heal I will likely be taking photos and reading more than usual. I may just finish The Brothers Karamazov before my classes begin on the twenty-second.

Caspar

After going for a bicycle ride on Sunday I pulled over beside a pond in Caspar (a tiny town five miles South of where I live) to take a few photos of the geese. While I was photographing the geese one, and later two more, cow approached and joined the shoot; however, my memory card filled before I managed to get any captures of all three cows and I decided that I was too exhausted to sort through and delete failed photos I'd already taken.

PS: Thanks to all of those who have left comments! Knowing that this blog is being viewed, moreover, appreciated by others, is what keeps me going.
