Shoes

Well, I'm back in college again and managed to go all day without taking a single photo. Hopefully I'll get out and take a few in the morning.

A Day Off (continued...)

I have a throng of images to go through from the last two days. I've been so busy sorting through them that I didn't get out to take any today (ok, maybe I did take a couple). There are more coming when I find the time.

Crouching Human, Hidden Frog

This little fella was sitting right in front of me as I tried to take a mediocre picture of some details on the plant he was perched on. I took a couple shots of the plant before noticing him and then several more of the little bugger. The second image is just a close-up of the first.

One of many photos from today. I'll be posting some more tomorrow.

Wired News Columnist Takes a Jab

At some point earlier today I stumbled upon this article written by Wired News' copy chief Tony Long. Read it now and form your own opinion before I taint you.

My reaction was that his distinction between the artistic qualities of digital and film photography was quite arbitrary. Though, wasn't nearly as offended by the photography bit as I was by his idea that digital painting was not an art. Surely he has never heard of Linda Bergkvist or Craig Mullins?

One could just as easily argue that photography is not an art in the first place (after all, there is usually less creative intervention in photography than in painting for instance). But this is nonsense; arguing about art and æsthetics will not get us anywhere.

Damn it feels good to have a couple days off. Yes, photography is on the agenda!

Telephone Booth (HDR)

Well my new tripod arrived yesterday and I found myself too busy playing with it to post anything. Here is one of my first HDR experiments.

edit: I was almost able to acheive the same effect by tweaking the shadows/highlights of an LDR (regular) image:

I guess my method needs some work.

Sunflower

I've been getting a little bored walking down the same streets in my little town. I think I'd like to start doing some portraits...if only I can find a willing subject.
